IGE's point of view:
The customer [you, well ok.. SOME of you] wants it.
Our workers [OMG! Play a MMO for a LIVING!!!!] want it.
Naturally, there's that "If you don't want it, don't pay for it" argument which can go in the same wastepaper basket as "If you don't want to watch it, change the channel". [maybe we should toss in the "If you don't like it, don't mod it" argument too ^ ^]
So don't you think SOE has done something, a little right with the Exchange servers? That way, we can divide ourselves into "Those of us who buy IGE's stuff" and "Those that not only don't buy it but ALSO don't want anyone else in the server buying IGE"
As for IGE's workers being '3rd world' and all that. I KNOW there are some good old boys right here in the USA who sell to IGE. Not just suspect, I got their character tag and some other ID. Hopefully they'll be banned soon.
Thing is, it doesn't matter who they are and where they are from. It may be a bit more practical to have workers from the '3rd world' do this sort of 'work' but it's all illegal anyway, why make a point of where they are from? Does anyone here believe Songokou's** some onion-smelling peasant in some underdeveloped part of our world?
*Please don't shoot me, I've just washed my hair and I like to wrap a towel around my head. Unless you're a Vorgon.
**On FFXI's Bahamut, there's this player who either bots or has one of the fastest reactions in the game [I'm extremely sure it's the latter, and he's a very nice fellow when you talk to him] and he pretty much monopolized a particular named spawn which dropped an item worth almost a million when he started camping it. He had a large hand in lowering the price to 200k gil ^ ^.
Think about it, with gil going for $50USD per 100k, he could probably make $200 easy per day. It's a timed spawn too so he doesn't have to stay glued to the spot.
Too bad it's Rare/Ex now heh heh.
