I'm starting this thread in hopes of gathering information in the field of Treasure Hunting. I know there was a thread back a few pages that linked to the EQII forums on SOE's website, but I figured we could work on gathering information here as well.
I would first like to suggest that a "Training" section be added to the Quests: List by Type section, as completing a training tome adds an entry to that quest type.
Second on the list of things I would like to compile information on are the rune/color/brightness correlations.
I'll put a list here, when you are out treasure hunting please write down and report the color combinations, what zone you were in, and what reward you got. (Optionally, also provide the general area you were in within the zone.)
Runes: Tree Rune, Sword Rune, Coin Rune
Colors: Red, Blue, Green, White
Brightness: Dim, Soft, Bright, Brilliant
Coin Rewards
From what the EQII forums say, 3 Bright or Brilliant runes will produce an Ancient Coin, of varrying amounts. My guess, I will research this, is that 3 Dim or Soft will produce enemy spawns of varrying degrees. (Normal, ^, and ^^)
Tome Rewards
Tomes, as of yet, are unknown what you get when you complete all of a classes available tomes. Personally, I have completed all of the Apprentice tomes for fighter with no reward other than the XP for completing each one in that tiere.
Here is how Tomes are layed out:
Tieres: Apprentice (Undead), Neophyte (Animal), Initiate (Centaur), Accomplished (Bixie), Experienced (Lizard Man), and Master (Thought Feeder)
Classes: Marshall (Fighter), Arcanist (Mage), Diviner (Priest), and Outrider (Scout)
Difficulties: Lesser (5), Standard (10), Greater (20)
ex: an apprentice marshall's lesser tome, upon examining, starts a quest to kill 5 undead in 5 minutes.
Each tome has a time limit of 5 minutes upon accepting the quest. This count-down starts immediatly, so be sure you are in an area where you have a large supply of the mob-type required.
Doing this in a group does work and makes it a lot easier, but at certain levels in certain zones it can be done easily solo as well.
-----
There are other rewards for treasure hunting, some being equippable gear, other being artifacts which can be sold to the merchant that provided your scrying stones.
Hopefully we can keep this thread going and eventually get a firm grasp on how it all works.
