A friend of mine is getting EQ2 shortly, and we plan on starting new toons together for duoing, will have others join us from time to time, but mainly will be just us 2.
We have tried to figure out a very good combo, but we keep going in circles.
One idea was to go scout/priest, and eventually make the priest an inquisitor, and wasnt exactly sure on the scout, but leaning towards the evil rouge type (cant remember name)
We would try and have the priest tank as best they can, while the scout canstay behind for more damage. The inquisitors armor and spells should be enough to tank properly, and hopefully hold the aggro enough for the scout to do his work. But this idea is slightly flawed as i did a trial run of it with a guild mate, and while we were relatively effective it didnt work as well as expected, I (the cleric) would pull with rubuke, and start my solo HO and as i finished the second smite the scout would use one of his backstab type attacks, i would be able to hold aggro for a decant amount of time, but once the mob turned on the scout it could get ugly.
Another idea was a cleric/fighter now this group would be very effective as we would always have a tank and healer, but the problem would lie in the damage, we would be able to take on alot of nasty things, but would be relatively slow in killing as fighters and clerics dont have the DPS as the scouts and mages. Another benefit of this combo is that when we form a group we would always have the tank and healer slots filled, so we could get some nice DPS and it would be great.
We also thought of a cleric/summoner combo. This (in theory) seems like a nice way to go, as the summoners pet could tank, cleric could heal and buff it, and the mage could do some nuking. But were not sure on the tanking capabilities of the summoners pets (how well they can hold the aggro)
We also thought a priest/priest combo might work. we would have one inquisitor to tank as best they can, and have a druid or shammy type (havnt decided yet)
Right now we have yet to figure out how we are going to do it yet, any thoughts or insight would be appreciated :)
