Hey, I'm actually trying to find something to like in the game. So, I'm going after really tought stuff w/ my little summoner. And I found there are some tactical variations.
Normal: buff pet, sic him on target. See it take damage and DoT... re Dot... reDot... heal pet maybe... when it's weak nuke it (HOing) til dead.
Now on mega tuff stuff, that doesn't work. If I heal pet too much they tend to get off pet and onto me - and won't go back onto pet even if I root and back off. That may be a variation to try - root and back off and see if pet can regain agro - but so far it hasn't worked.
So, I thought about sending in pet and DoTing... heal pet enough to let him do more damage but not get agro... let pet die eventually - and then root mob. Back off and keep mob rooted til I can summon new pet. Problem - he usually can't get agro.
Another variation - send pet in and let him do as much damage as possible but don't heal too much. Let him die w/out getting agro. From this point on root and dot til it dies. Slow, but this tactic works on named green ^^mobs.
Problem w/ root dot w/ pet up is that once mob agros on u, pet's hits break root all the time - and he's back on u (the target is).
Another option is to have no pet up and just root and dot. Slow but it works. Yeah root might break too often, but just sprint away, then come back and try again.
Any other summoner/conjurer tactics out there? I don't have stun yet, but I understand it is useful used w/ root dotting. Stun to cast dots THEN root, less likely to break. Or nuke/HO while stunned, then root til u can stun again - something like that - those might be more wiz/chanter tactics, tho - although summoner can use them too. Pet isn't always good.
