Or he could be sploiting away like a house on fire!
I wouldn't be surprised, either. I guarantee money spoits will pop up - and - in fact a few already have - and have been largely nerfed. And some aren't true sploits - they just put in the wrong sell-back price. Witness a recent patche where, for a day, you couldn't see back ANY player made stuff. Hmmm.
Some of the sploits for plats on old eq were hysterical. Never confirmed this, but it is said that one day a "banker" character showed up in a little used dungeon, befallen. And he would show up there occasionally at odd times over a period of a few weeks. It turned out he gave something like 10 plat for 1 gold, the opposite of what was proper.
Before you say it must be a lie, hear me out. The "true story" behind this legend is that a Sony programmer slipped him in so he could DUPE PLAT like a fiend and sell it on the side - and he made hundreds of thousands of dollars doing this before he was caught. Again, I dunno if this is true, but it's a cool story.
Had he instead made a certain little fish in the corner of Timorous Deep a banker, he might have never been caught. The char was named something like Banker Hanson. Of course he may have named him that to have the npc be "camoflagued in plain sight" - i.e. so bland that when a list of banker npcs was printed out for checks, no one noticed for a while. Who knows - I dunno Sony's internal protocol. But still, it's a cool story. Wish I'd known!
