This memory leak problem effects some people and not others it seems. I run my main on a p4 3.2GHz with a 6800gt and 2gigs of ram on an abit IS7 and it hits me very often. I have to reboot to fix the problem as well. I also have an athlon 64 system with a 9800np and 1gig of ram, that system runs just fine and never has the memory leak problem. Oddly, other people who have this problem have it on athlon 64 systems, on systems with radeon 9800s, etc etc. so the components involved dont seem to be the culprit. Quite honestly, I bought the 6800gt as an upgrade to a 9800pro in order to improve performance in THIS game specifically and have been very disappointed. It didnt improve jack. I also added the second gig of memory for the same reason, once again, it didnt improve jack. The game IS very demanding at high settings, but I am playing both machines at the same settings for comparisons sake and the machine with teh 9800 in it still runs better, it may not be capable of looking as pretty if I up some settings, but it runs smoothly with no stuttering or jerkiness. The jerkiness on my main box gets worse and worse with the memory leak problem until I have to reboot.
It will run prime95 forever. It kicks the other machines *** in any other game or benchmark, it just runs EQ2 like crap. I tried memscrubber or some such (not sure about the program name at this point) and had to remove it due to the game crashes it caused. I have no answers... I'b been living with it.
