Nope.. Your wrong.. Why I want that kind of groupsetup is not because I want to ding 50 asap.
Doing it to be most efficient? Yes. Why? Cause being on the edge is what I find most fun. And yes, I want to be no.1. Actually, thats why I do most things I do in life. To become no1.
Perhaps I am. I never played with you, so I don't know. But "being the most efficient" and having the "cookie cutter setup" (tank, healer, dps) are what I define as powergaming. If you need that setup because your desire is to be most efficient, then to me, that's powergaming (again, nothing is wrong with this, I play this way in the other game. I'm just happy I can choose _not_ to, in EQ2). To be number one in this game (and pretty much in any MMORPG, or even just game, for that matter), it is all about the levels.
Now, please take no offense, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
As far as solo/duo experience, you did mention the best way to go about questing and that's turning of combat xp. Making it intentionally harder for soloers/duo's/trio's to progress through the game, just so you don't have to turn off your combat xp, sounds selfish to me. It is not needed to go back to the hard days of yore when all you really need to do is a right-click and left-click. Besides, most quests that are worth doing, you can get the drops now even if the mobs are gray to you.
I believe it should not be as rewarding (loot-wise) to solo than group. However, from the originally advertised intentions from SOE, it shouldn't be more difficult to progress (level) through the game solo. Adding the bonus does, indeed, make it easier to do this playstyle than it did before.

Remember, its not the goal! Its the journey!
And I couldn't agree more. However, one doesn't have to be handicapped with a slower experience gain solo to enjoy the journey. Nor do they, as you have stated, need to be most efficient. It's all a matter of playstyle.
Give the freedom of choice (solo/duo/trio/group/powergaming/casual, etc.) to as many people as possible and things may work out much better than not.
