Having just customised my own new Dell PC, I can say that it runs smoothly, and I have had no problems with it. After trying to play EQ1 on a computer with a 4mb graphics card, and 128mb of ram, a Gateway computer, which I will never buy again, I upgraded it. I took my old Gateway up to 512mb of RAM, with a 128mb ATI Radeon 9200 AGP graphics card, plus got DSL internet, played EQ1 like a dream. 3 weeks later, my computer crashed. No reason, just crashed, locked up, and when I restarted it, nothing happened. I bought this new Dell and have to say, I'm not complaining. 3.4Ghz processor, 1Gb RAM, 128mb NVIDIA something graphics card, runs great.
Now heres the real story, friend of mine (rich friend, daddys a doctor) got an Alienware computer for his b-day. His father bought him a $4000 computer, and when it arrived, it didnt work. After replacing the motherboard, hard drive, and processor, it finally works, but no better than mine. Alienware is the biggest rip off you will ever see. Dell is great for someone who doesnt know much about computers, but if you know a little bit, at least enough to put one together, go to
New Egg and buy all the components for your computer. I customized one with 2Gb of RAM, 256mb ATI x800 pro graphics card, AMD processor, the works, and a really sweet lookin case, 7.1 surround sound, 21 inch moniter, all for only about $300 more than I paid for my computer. I'm not saying I would never buy another Dell, just that you get more for your money by building your own.
