Unlocking FroglocksFollow

#202 Apr 24 2005 at 4:58 PM Rating: Decent
i wonder why they chose froglocks to be the race you have to unlock considering that not many people even want to be one.

New quest in the Freeport Militia House jail - there's a frog in there at +151, -26, +143 (sometimes- he depops) who gives a new quest called "Search for the missing". It is a level 25 quest.

This quest is listed under "World Events". So this looks like the beginning of the server-wide unlocking quest. Haven't found the single-player access quest, if it exists at this time.

Next step is to check the beaches "beyond these walls", so presumably the coast of the Commonlands, for a froglok shaman.

From SOE forums:

1. The update that just went out today included the new Froglok animations, not the rest of the data related to the upcoming quest and live event.

2. The quest to unlock Frogloks is a major event that the team has been working diligently on completing and testing. This event will happen later in the month, and you will see some very big announcements when the event goes Live.

I can see by your posts that some of the NPCs that give out the event quest were released prematurely, and I apologize for that mistake. The event to release the Frogloks cannot be completed at this time, and these NPCs will be deactivated until we announce the release of the event later on this month.

I want to say that I am sorry for the additional confusion this has caused everyone. When the event is about to go live, we will make sure to announce it clearly so that everyone is aware of it and can participate in freeing the noble children of Marr.

Thank you again for your patience.

I got an issue of SoE Worlds in the mail, and the frogloks should be released soon. It says the Tae EW are toruring them, and 3 escape, 2 make it to Qeynos, and one is captured by Lucan, hense the Froglok prisoner. Their will be a qst to free the frogloks from the Tae Ew and the first group is suppose to get a special title, and unlock the frogs. Others can do the qst after the frogs are free. It is on page 48 of SOE World magazine.

Did I miss something or is 25 May the release date for Frogloks?

Haven't seen any extra downloads or dev notes. The lore is, well, just lore. The screenshots look to place them in Feerott.

Yep, LU9 is downloading as we speak. I'll quickly go unlock the froggies for my account.

Froglok Troubador singing, "Froggy went a courtin' and he did ride, uh-huh."

Edit: And here's the dev notes to LU9 for Frogs:

*** The Return of the Frogloks ***

- New information has surfaced that indicates the noble frogloks are being held captive in the Feerrott!
- Frogloks in West Freeport and Castleview Hamlet can direct adventurers on the quest to help release this honorable race from the bonds of tyranny.
- Complete the quest for yourself and create your own froglok character! This quest is well-suited for solo players in their upper 20s, or groups in their lower 20s.
- Defeat the powerful evil force binding the froglok spirit and you'll make frogloks available for everyone on your server! This epic battle will require a full raid force of powerful adventurers.

I'm hoping I can do the quest w/ my 24 pally, a 22 cleric, and a couple of other random guildmates :-D

well we did it - its a toughie (Qeynos side)

You start off in Castleview Hamlet speaking with Frup Groakk

From there you need to go to Antonica and run along the southern beach till you get a glowing trail. Follow the glowing trail and at the end of each, looking for a glowie that you can click to get the next trail to follow.

Eventually you will find a froglok and have to lead him to a guard tower.

After that, you go back to the original guy, and then have to wait an hour or so (he's meditating)

The next part is to kill an assassin - who's level 29. Believe it or not it wasn't that hard with three of us. He is located at the bell tower (who's real name escapes me).

The third part is clearing out a zone of assassins and lizardmen. They were all in their 30s. This zone is located on the eastern side, south of the North Eastern beach (its a big rock). You need to kill a named in here, and then release a froglok. (you must do this quest once for each person).

After you complete this, you need to go back to the guy one last time, get a stone that when your out at Crater pond will allow you to activate and teleport to a froglok town.

Do the menial tasks there and then see the cheif. You get an itme that reduces the status cost of rent by 200 pts and frogloks are unlocked for you.

Sounds like the server wide raid portion is bugged pretty bad.

Hmmm...How can something be released that is that bugged? Who tests these things out? Oh well, someone will figure it out. You can read the threads i read here

By the way, anyone know what the actual starting stats are for the froggies?

Thanks....May the best Dev fix it first.

All I know is you have to kill a dragon for it to be unlocked server wide but that was just a rumor. Frogloks are unlocked on my server.... Everfrost.

Your web site is simple and laid out well, consider changing the font to something other than Times Roman. If you know how to use columns and tabs in the layout, place those also.

Your link to sell plat leads to a larger plat selling company, which raises questions about your credibility. Maybe you are just the large company making a high-school-looking web page with a new angle (plat for college) hoping to lure people in and feel good at the same time. Or maybe you are actually just a kid trying to make it to college.

In either case, selling plat is something that the general crowd here will frown upon. You may hear things like, "Begone, plat seller." or "Take that crap somewhere else".

If you are looking for financial help into college, here or here are good places to start.

So, begone plat seller, good luck with college.

Hi All:

I just made this (www.mmogold4college.com) site as a project for my computer class. If you go to my site to buy plat, I will get a commission that I will be saving for college. I'm 14, so I'm too young to get a real job yet.

Thanks in advance :)

Seeing as you're only 14, I'll be nice. If you think you are going to get to college through your commision on selling plat, you are in need of medical attention. And don't post about selling plat on this site. Especially on a thread having to do with frogloks. My guess is that this is an intro to computer class as you didn't know how to use the link function.

Either way, don't boast about selling plat. It's not a good thing.

I'm confused. I picked up EQ2 again after a vacation. Froggies were't unlocked when I quit, but now they are (on my server, Toxx, I could pick a Froggie at new character screen, but I didn't).

I got a quest called "The Missing" that seems a lot like the unlock quest described in this thread, but Allakhazam listed it as a new quest a few days ago (Oct. 05).

Same thing or what?

Same thing. Each server was unlocked by raid guilds or time.

You can do the quest to experience the content of The Missing, which is small but well made. So enjoy it and have fun. :)

Oh, don't count on fast updates from Alla, they are input alphabetically. The current quest updates are brought to you by the letter T.
